Ernie Darling joined The Gunston School team in 2004 as the Head of Grounds and Maintenance. After graduating from Queen Anne's County High School he attended Chesapeake College where he met the woman he has been happily married to every since. Ernie's family has farming roots that run deep on the Eastern Shore, but his career began in construction 38 years ago working as a laborer for his cousin's building company. He later worked at a local millwork company only to return to building and eventually working his way to a lead carpenter position. After a few years as a carpenter for the Kent County school system he took the position at Gunston where his job combines both his love for the outdoors and building. Ernie enjoys any and all activities outside, especially when they include his wife, kids and new granddaughter.
