BOYS WIN 83-51

Gunston Swimming closed out Senior Day with strong performances on both sides, earning wins over Delmarva. The girls claimed an 83–43 victory, while the boys secured an 83–51 win. A standout moment came in the girls’ 400 freestyle relay, where Isabel Gerstmyer ’28, Emma Morris ’26, Bridget Walden ’28, and Ali Workman ’29 set a new school record with a time of 4:18.97.

We proudly celebrate our Varsity Boys and Girls Swimming seniors. Thank you for your dedication, leadership, and the memories you have given this program, both in and out of the pool. Your impact extends far beyond the final race.

Varsity Girls Basketball

01/23 vs. Salisbury Christian School
WIN 49-27

The Lady Herons of Gunston turned in a strong all-around performance on their home floor, rolling past Salisbury Christian 49–27. Leading the way was Senior Layla Kent, who poured in a game-high 18 points to pace the Gunston offense. The Herons set the tone early with aggressive defense and efficient scoring, building control that they never relinquished. Eleanor Owings ’29 continued to make her presence felt, contributing 8 points while wreaking havoc defensively with 5 steals. Teagan Derby ’28 added a solid 5 points, providing steady production in the backcourt. Inside, Mauriana Wichlinski ’28 battled in the paint, finishing with 8 rebounds and 7 points. Her physical play and effort on the glass helped Gunston limit second-chance opportunities and control the tempo throughout the night. With balanced scoring and relentless defense, the Lady Herons showcased their depth and teamwork as they pulled away for the 22-point victory.

Winter Sports Awards 2026

This year, we saw 142 student-athletes hit the courts and the pool, supported by a dedicated crew of 15 team managers and 11 coaches across 7 teams.

Girls Swim Team February 2026

The Gunston School celebrated a standout winter sports season, highlighted by the Girls Swimming team’s 2nd place ESIAC finish and the Boys Swimming team’s impressive 4th place at the MIAA Championships. On campus, the Herons hosted a successful "Crash-G" Indoor Erg Sprint, securing 2nd place overall while debuting new live-race technology for spectators. To cap off the week, Varsity Boys Basketball earned a hard-fought 49-39 victory over Jemicy led by a dominant double-double from Amir Williams.

Girls Basketball Screen Grab 2026

Varsity Girls Basketball earned a 36-33 road win over Salisbury, led by Kate Zottarelli ’27 with 12 points and Layla Kent ’26 with 8 points and 8 rebounds. The Varsity Boys defeated Jemicy 58-47 behind Amir Williams ’26, who had 16 points and 10 rebounds, followed by a tough loss to Key School where Williams led with 18 points. The JV Boys fell to Cristo Rey, but celebrated a team highlight as Weston Mandell ’28 scored his first career basket.
