The Lady Herons picked up a tough road victory over Salisbury School 36-33

Varsity Boys Basketball

2/2 vs. Jemicy
WIN 58-47
Varsity boys basketball defeated Jemicy with a final score of 58-47 with Senior Amir Williams leading the way with a double double 16 points and 10 rebounds. Fellow Senior Ethan Harper also contributed to the win with 10 points and 5 assists. 

2/3 vs. Key School
LOSS 38-58
On Tuesday, we were defeated by key school with by a score of 38-58 where Amir Williams ’26 lead all scorers with 18 points 7 rebounds next leading scorer was Max Rene ’28 with 10 points and 2 steals. 

JV Boys Basketball

2/3 vs. Cristo Rey
LOSS 77-24

The JV Boys Basketball Team was defeated by the Cristo Rey Jesuit Hornets on Tuesday at home by a score of 77 to 24. The Herons were led by Declan Ferner ’29 who had 10 points and who played with constant hustle. Jack Augustus ’28 chipped-in with 6 points, while Weston Mandell ’28 netted his first career basket!

Winter Sports Awards 2026

This year, we saw 142 student-athletes hit the courts and the pool, supported by a dedicated crew of 15 team managers and 11 coaches across 7 teams.

Girls Swim Team February 2026

The Gunston School celebrated a standout winter sports season, highlighted by the Girls Swimming team’s 2nd place ESIAC finish and the Boys Swimming team’s impressive 4th place at the MIAA Championships. On campus, the Herons hosted a successful "Crash-G" Indoor Erg Sprint, securing 2nd place overall while debuting new live-race technology for spectators. To cap off the week, Varsity Boys Basketball earned a hard-fought 49-39 victory over Jemicy led by a dominant double-double from Amir Williams.

Varsity Girls Basketball earned a 36-33 road win over Salisbury, led by Kate Zottarelli ’27 with 12 points and Layla Kent ’26 with 8 points and 8 rebounds. The Varsity Boys defeated Jemicy 58-47 behind Amir Williams ’26, who had 16 points and 10 rebounds, followed by a tough loss to Key School where Williams led with 18 points. The JV Boys fell to Cristo Rey, but celebrated a team highlight as Weston Mandell ’28 scored his first career basket.
