Boys Varsity Soccer

The boys’ varsity soccer team wrapped up an extraordinary season, reaching the MIAA C Conference final in our very first year in the league. Their journey was a testament to their skill, determination, and resilience, making us all incredibly proud. The team’s playoff run began with an impressive 3-1 victory over St. John’s Catholic in the quarterfinals, with goals from Alex Elfenbein, Bennett Wirts, and Ethan Harper. This win secured our place in the semifinals, where we faced Mount Carmel, the undefeated top seed in the conference. The semifinal was an intense 93-minute showdown, with regulation time ending in a 4-4 tie, thanks to goals by Jackson Frederick, Van Topjian, Ethan Harper, and Bennett Wirts. In a thrilling golden goal overtime, Bennet Wirts found the back of the net in the third minute of the second overtime, giving Gunston a historic victory and advancing us to our first MIAA C Conference final.

The Herons took the field for the championship game on Sunday, November 10, at UMBC Stadium, facing off against Key School. The final was a hard-fought battle, with the teams locked in a 2-2 tie at the end of regulation and two overtimes. Ethan Harper scored both goals for us in regular time, showcasing his skill and tenacity. The match ultimately went to penalty kicks, where we came up just short, with a 3-2 PK result.

Congratulations to the boys for an outstanding season! They played with heart and character, showcasing their ability and talent in every game. Reaching the final in our first year in the MIAA conference is a tremendous achievement and a glimpse of even greater things to come.
To the fans and parents, thank you for your unwavering support—it means the world to us. We look forward to seeing you next season as we continue this journey. Go Herons!

Sailing Team 2024

Sailing

Sailors went to the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford this past weekend on Saturday, November 9th, for the T2 championship regatta! Fighting against heavy wind conditions as well as 17 other competing teams, the team landed several top 3 finishes throughout the day of races, ultimately placing above top performing teams such as Spalding and Great Mills. Congratulations to Ethan McWilliams and Wylie Keegan, for whom this was their senior championship event, as well as Preston Allen, Joey McGeady, and Ella Von Voss for an excellent day of performances.
