From Coach Natalie Purpora:

“The rowers were in fantastic spirits all day! Up at the starting line, they seemed very focused and willing to get the job done. We knew Walter Johnson was going to be hard competition, but that didn't stop us from giving it our all! It was very rewarding to see the determination of the rowers, and to see that they were not backing down from a challenge. The highlight of the day was the final race, which was the men's varsity four. The race was incredibly close, I followed them down the race course and couldn't tell who won. Finally, Coach Tammy Boone came over the radio to announce that Gunston earned first place and it felt like the work we've been doing as coaches the whole season had been leading up to that moment. I am incredibly proud of the pure effort of each and every rower!”
