On Sunday June 2nd, the Gunston Triathlon team competed in the Rock Hall Triathlon, which crowned the Maryland State High School and age group champions. On a perfect day for racing, eight members of the Tri team, including 2 alums from the Class of 2023, Aidan Trautman and Oliver White, spent the morning absolutely crushing it! 

Aidan Marketto, Allen Burnett, Elizabeth Pupke, and Cooper Grundner (first time triathlete!) had strong finishes in the high school division made up of 30 talented youngsters from across the state. Four-year athlete Allie Fitzgerald finished 4th of the high school females, while Zoe Buzzelli successfully defended her title to become the two-time Maryland High School State Champion and, as a bonus, was the 2nd overall female finisher out of over 160 athletes! Colin Hallmark continued his dominance to claim his FOURTH consecutive high school state championship and was 5th out of more than 200 male athletes! Former team member Zach Steinberg and his father, Adam, also came out to race! 

Thanks to their podium finishes in either the high school or age group divisions, Zoe, Colin, Oliver, and Coach Stephenson all earned spots at the USA Triathlon National Championship held this September in Atlantic City, NJ!
