Gunston Alums Visit for Winter Alumni Week 2023

Gunston Alums Visit for Winter Alumni Week 2023
Gunston hosted a variety of alumni events at the start of the new semester including Happy Hour and Pizza on Tuesday, Alumni Nights at home basketball games on Wednesday and Thursday, a Young Alumni Panel with the Class of 2022, and an Alumni vs. Student Trivia Contest on Friday.

The Happy Hour and Pizza brought back alumni from a wide range of classes. It was a lovely evening of classmate reunion and sharing memories from times at Gunston. Some attendees had not returned to campus since graduation!

During the home varsity basketball games on Wednesday and Thursday, alumni were invited to attend and cheer on the teams. T-Shirts were given out as well as snacks and other swag items!

The Young Alumni Panel on Friday welcomed back some of Gunston’s newest alumni from the Class of 2022. The alumni were split in two groups - one speaking with 11th grade and one group speaking with 12th grade. They each spoke about their experiences so far in college and how life has been post-graduation. The panelists included Charlotte Cook (University of Rochester), Evie Hagan (Montana State University), Jimmy Fraser (Virginia Tech), Danielle Simmons (Washington College), Georgia Gillespie University of Tennessee), Sofia Angarita (Amherst College), and Colin Lang (United States Naval Academy). The panels were moderated by College Guidance Directors Mrs. Coffey and Mr. D’Antonio.

Lastly, Mr. Lewis hosted an Alumni vs. Student Trivia Contest on Friday afternoon. Andrew Amygdalos ’20 represented alumni and competing for the students were Nick Abell ’23, Margaret Randolph ’25, Lily Brantner ’25, and Eamon Schopfer ’26. After a few long rounds of trivia questions, the alumni team came out on top!
