Meet the Alumni Advisory Group: Henry Shifrin ’21

Over the past year, Gunston has assembled alumni volunteers to create a new Alumni Advisory Group. The group is composed of alumni from different eras (boarding school and co-ed), class years, clubs, careers, etc. The group’s purpose is to provide feedback about alumni programming and brainstorm ideas for how to increase alumni engagement. Our next spotlight is Henry Shifrin ’21.

Henry is a rising third-year student at Northeastern University where he is studying Journalism and Political Science. He is about to begin a co-op position at the Massachusetts State House, where he will work as a tour guide for six months. In his free time, he is involved with Northeastern’s student-run radio station, where he hosts Snazzy Jams and reviews albums and concerts.

What was your favorite class?

AP Government with Mr. Lewis

What is your favorite Gunston Tradition?

“Disembarkation! Having such a formal goodbye to campus, and a real sense of closure to my high school experience surrounded by my classmates was a very special experience.”

What were you involved in during your time at Gunston?

“Varsity Tennis, Academic Team, Gender Spectrum Alliance, Student Diversity Leaders Group, Model UN.”

What is your fondest Gunston memory?

“My fondest Gunston memory would have to be coming back to campus for the first time since leaving in the Spring of 2020 due to COVID. While in distance learning, sustaining a sense of community was very difficult, so when our grade returned it really reminded me why I first fell in love with Gunston. The sense of community, just the feeling of all being on campus together was such a special feeling that I had really missed, and gaining that again was so special.”

Thank you, Henry, for your participation on the Alumni Advisory Group!
