Gunston Recognizes 25 AP Scholars for 22-23 Academic Year

Every fall, the National Advanced Placement (AP) Program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on multiple AP Exams. The College Board recognizes different achievements including AP Scholar, AP Scholar with Honor, and AP Scholar with Distinction. The Gunston School is pleased to announce the following 25 students who received recognition from the AP Board (pictured below, in order).
 

AP Scholars at the Gunston School 22-23

The title of AP Scholar is granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams and for the 2022-2023 school year includes 16 students: Zachary Adams ’23 of Centreville (University of Colorado-Boulder), Olivia Amygdalos ’23 of Wyoming, Del. (University of Pittsburgh), Kelby Booth ’23 of Denton (Bryn Mawr College), Xuanyao (Henry) Feng ’23 of Centreville (George Washington University), Alanna Grace ’23 of Centreville (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University), Jessica Hammond ’24 of Trappe, Paget Kellogg ‘23 of Oxford (University of Colorado-Boulder), Tilghman Overton ’24 of Chestertown, Grace Anne Phillips ’23 of Stevensville (St. Mary's College of Maryland), Julia Reed ’23 of Chestertown (University of North Carolina Wilmington), Joanna Riley ’24 of Encintas, Calif., Aaron Sanderson ’23 of Annapolis (United States Merchant Marine Academy), Anna Szwaja ’24 of Easton, Brielle Tyler ’23 of Denton (Tulane University), Yining Wei ’23 of Guangdong, China (University of Washington), and Jiacheng (Jason) Ye ’23 of Centreville (​​University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign).

AP Scholar with Honors 22-23 The Gunston School

The title of AP Scholar with Honor is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of the exams. The 2022-2023 school year AP Scholars with Honors includes four students: Julia Buchanan ’23 of Centreville (Dickinson College), Turner Day ’24 of Severna Park, Maren Kneeland ’24 of Stevensville, and YaXin (Angelina) Lin ’23 of Middletown, Del. (Bowdoin College).

Gunston AP Scholars with Distinction 22-23

The AP Scholar with Distinction is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. The 2022-2023 school year AP Scholars with Distinction include five students: Nicholas Abell ’23 of Crownsville (Furman University), Thomas de los Reyes ’23 of Annapolis (Columbia University), Zacharia Mozher ’23 of Middletown, Del. (Princeton University), Elizabeth (Lane) Parkhurst ’23 of Centreville (Wake Forest University), and Damian René of Easton (Swarthmore College).
