CWS has had a very fun, but busy few weeks. Of note, we spent the last week of September at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Wachapreague, VA. Students spent the week out on the water with VIMS staff members exploring the marsh, bay, barrier islands, and mud flats of the Eastern Shore of Virginia. We collected all kinds of critters including burrfish, northern puffer fish, urchins, and seahorses. Students had the opportunity to view some of what we collected under microscopes in the VIMS graduate level wet lab. The group also had the chance to learn about the history of the barrier islands at the Barrier Islands Center in Machipongo, VA and we even made it down to Cape Charles for some fun exploring. We had a blast exploring the natural wonders of the lower shore and experiencing a bit of the culture!
