Earlier this month, Juniors Sydney Kim and Eamon Schopfer organized a trash cleanup for Gunston students along Hibernia road for their Youth Climate Institute action project. Eleven students collected twelve 30-gallon bags worth of trash in 2 hours!
Members of the Youth Climate Institute are required to complete an action project aimed at addressing an issue in their community in order to obtain their Climate Ambassador certification. Sydney and Eamon chose a location, requested permission from the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office and Queen Anne’s County Public Works, and even created a permission slip for students to sign. Well done, Sydney and Eamon!
Big shoutout for the nine other Gunston students who came out on a rainy Sunday afternoon! Interested in YCI? Email Ms. S for more information at mskirkanich@gunston.org
