New Community Book Club, TIDE (Talking about Identity, Diversity, and Equity): February 11, 2021

We are excited to announce Gunston’s new community book club, TIDE (Talking about Identity, Diversity, and Equity). The TIDE Book Club is a part of Gunston’s larger DEI Strategic Plan, where we aim to increase community engagement and discussion of topics related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Parents, students, faculty, and alumni are all invited to participate!

We will kick off our book club with a discussion of Whistling Vivaldi: How Stereotypes Affect Us and What We Can Do by Claude Steele. This is a fascinating book that delves into the psychology of stereotypes and implicit bias. We encourage you to give your loved one a copy this winter, so they can read it over break.

Our first meeting will take place via Zoom on Thursday, February 11 at 5pm, with the initial goal of one book per semester.

Click here to register by February 10th if you are interested in participating in the TIDE Book Club and we will send you the link to participate in the discussion.
