Ava Augustus is officially headed to the University of Vermont this fall to study Business Administration.
A mainstay of the Gunston Players for all four years, Ava saw the theater from every perspective. She began her journey on the stage crew for The End of the World with Prom to Follow before moving into the spotlight. Her range as an actor was on full display as she played Rachel in The Fall of the House of Usher, delivered a standout performance as Martin “Grandpa” Vanderhof in You Can’t Take It With You, and most recently portrayed Marmee in Little Women for her senior production.
Beyond the theater, Ava’s creative presence extended to the Art Club and the Debris Literary Magazine. Additionally, she was a steady presence in the Mental Health Awareness Club. On the water, Ava was a dedicated athlete and served as both a coxswain and rower for all four years of high school, capping off her career as the Girls Rowing Team Captain her senior year.
Ava’s academic record is equally strong, characterized by her membership in the National Honor Society and her consistent placement on the honor roll. During her junior year, she earned the RIT Humanities and Social Sciences Award and the St. Bonaventure University Scholarship. While she ultimately chose Vermont, her academic success earned her acceptances to Clark University, Ithaca College, RIT, Saint Joseph's University, Stockton University, Temple University, Towson University, University of Delaware, UMBC, and the University of New Hampshire. We wish her the best of luck as a future Catamount!
