Dr. Wilson′s Class Blasts Off

This week Dr. Wilson’s physics classes have taken on an interesting end-of-year project; building and launching model rockets. The experiment is designed to better students’ understandings of concepts like thrust, drag, and impulse, as well as Newton’s Laws. Using data observed while building the rockets, students were able to accurately predict the maximum altitude. By watching the three stages of a rocket, thrust, coast, and recovery, Dr. Wilson’s students are able to witness a wide variety of the concepts that they have been studying for the last eight months.
