Gunston GSA hosts S.L.A.Y. Picnic

Submitted the Gunston GSA Club

Last weekend, the Gunston GSA hosted its first ever cookout! More than 40 students and guests enjoyed a picnic-style BBQ with music, crafts, and games. Students created the theme and coined the acronym S.L.A.Y (Super Lit Amazing Youth). "We wanted to do something to kick off Pride Month and create an opportunity for students from other GSA groups to get together with their peers," said Dr. Asprion, the club advisor.

"It was a good idea because many people from different GSA clubs got to socialize and talk with each other. It was essentially a celebration and get-together of unique identities and welcoming people,” said Rowan Lutz ’25.

“This event gave people a safe place to mingle around and interact with one another! It was so much fun talking to new people, painting with them, and joking around.I hope to do this again soon,” said Josie Merton ’24.

“I think getting to know the other people was my favorite part! I really enjoyed meeting new people and connecting with friends over fun activities. It is a very good opportunity to become connected to schools in our area and make bonds with the people there. Basing it around our GSAs also makes it so we can share ideas about our clubs and meet people with similar and different identities,” said Annabelle Sinatra ’25.

Dr. Asprion thanks the administration for their support, as well as the help from Ms. Scull, Ms. Rudolfs, and his partner in crime, Ms. Larrimore
