Mental Health Club at Out of the Darkness Walk Fall 2023

On Saturday, September 30th students from the Mental Health Awareness Club and the Queen Anne’s Ambassadors group volunteered at the Mid-Shore Out of the Darkness Walk. The event, which is sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention “is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.” (AFSP). The student volunteers assisted with event set up and take down, registration, and materials distribution. In addition, they listened to the stories shared by walk participants who have lost a loved one to suicide and they completed the walk in solidarity with all attendees.

Student volunteers included Ari Triandos ’24, Aiden Marketto ’26, Lily Showalter ’27, Zoey Loveless ’27, Ellie Hassett ’24, Lennox Franks ’25, Madi Lutz ’24, Mia Walker ’25, Emma Sharp ’25, Maggie Porciello ’25, Natalie Edelen ’27, and Lucia Melchiorre ’24.
