In 2015, Gunston’s board ratified our Gunston 2020 strategic plan. Since that time, we have grown enrollment nearly 40%, developed our superb teaching and leadership team, enhanced our technological capacities, launched new programs and coursework, expanded our athletic offerings, and developed significant programming in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition, we’ve created new pathways for alumni outreach and increased the school’s philanthropic capacity, participation, and infrastructure.
Perhaps most notably, the 2015 strategic plan charged Gunston with “becoming a regional and national leader in environmental teaching and learning,” leading to the development of our Environmental Strategic Plan. With goals in the realms of curriculum, facilities, new programs, and partnerships, this plan drove the creation of the Chesapeake Watershed Semester, the Environmental Leadership for Independent School Leaders course, and new graduation requirements in Bay Studies and Climate Science.
In the 2019-2020 school year, Gunston will be partnering with Greenwich Leadership Partners to create our Gunston 2025 strategic plan. Stay tuned!
