In Celebration of Books

At Gunston, we believe in the transformative power of language and the study of writing as a craft. For nearly three decades, our In Celebration of Books program has been a revered campus tradition, bringing writers of national, regional, and local prominence directly to our students.

Consistent with our mission of educating ethically and environmentally minded scholars, this program features diverse voices from all fields—including novelists, journalists, poets, historians, environmentalists, and scientists.

The Guest Author Experience

This program is designed to give students consistent, highly personalized exposure to living writers whose work aligns with our curriculum. During their visit, guest authors participate in:

• A Campus-Wide Presentation: A keynote reading, lecture, or public talk for the entire school community.
• Intimate Classroom Workshops: Small-group sessions where students have the unique opportunity to interact with the author, ask questions about their creative process, and receive feedback on their own perspectives.
