November 2, 2018 | Issue 8 The Gunston Weekly Gunston Sailors Compete at the Tred Avon Yacht Club
Gunston sailors headed out to the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, MD to compete in the 2018 JV Championships hosted by Saints Peter and Paul. Among the sailors were Severn Schut '21, Charlie Shifrin '21, Helen Boone'21, Hannah Worth'21 and Evelyn Hagan '22. The Tred Avon waters threw all that it could at our Herons with bouts of heavy wind, no wind, strong tides and very chilly conditions. With placements as high as 4th for both Severin and Helen alike, Gunston sailors were in tough battle with many other teams who were just a few points apart. Overall Gunston sailors finished 10th out of 17 teams with just one point of separation between Gunston and 9th place! A special thanks goes out to Ed Schut who helped organize the event with Coach Chafey and was essential to the day as he helped cheer, support and coach our sailors.
